Ambient Devices,specialized in integrating Internet information into every day products, has made an umbrella with a built-in radio receiver in its handle that receives weather data for 150 American locations from forecasting site Accuweather.com through a proprietary wireless network.
The umbrella’s handle would lit up if there is a forecast of rain within the next 12 hours. Soft intermittent pulses in the handle mean a forecast of light rain while a very rapid, intense pattern signal makes you aware of the thunderstorms ahead.You can place this umbrella anywhere, be it by the door or in an umbrella stand. You can also carry it with yourself while going out so that it keeps you informing the climatic conditions.

The Ambient umbrella is battery operated and it requires activation via a customer service phone line. It is great evidence to the fact that the intelligence of the internet can also be put into everyday objects.
